Young Hollywood comes out and supports the Eighth Annual FIRST STAR Celebration for Children’s Rights
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Uncategorized on May 26, 2012 by younghollywoodlifeOn Sunday May 20, 2012, The Eighth Annual FIRST STAR Celebration for Children’s Rights honored Heroes in the fight to protect children. This years celebration was held at the Pritzker Home in Beverly Hills.
There was games for the kids, a silent auction, and then the heroes were honored. Sarah Aubrey & Eric Harmon, “Battleship” producer and LA Deputy District Attorney; Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jon Vein, Principal at The Gotham Group and CEO of Market Share; Sara Miller McCune, Co-Founder and Chair of SAGE Publications; and Jim Wilson, CEO of Atari– for their humanitarian efforts on behalf of children.
Some of the Young Hollywood that came out were Zach Callison, Zachary Gordon, Evan Hofer, Julianna Rose, Jennessa Rose, Isabella Rae Thomas, Emily, Alyvia and Natalie Alyn Lind. It is great that these young actors are helping to create awareness for children’s rights.
Brian Gott, Publisher of Variety, spoke to the crowd as well as Peter Samuelson, co-founder of First Star and UCLA Chancellor Gene Block. They all are supporters of First Star and are helping to create awareness of the campaign of First Star.

Circus Vargas – The Circus of today! stops by Hollywood May 11, 2012

The Harmony Project provides music lessons for at-risk youth in the Los Angeles area.
Circus Vargas is a great show that is updated, upscale and keeps you on your seat.
Actress Julianna Rose and Actor Zach Callison opened the show as each sang for the crowd. Then the Harmony Project came out to show us why it is so important to keep music in the schools. The kids from the Harmony Project played the National Anthem as well as a few songs to show how well they have learned thru this great project. Other local celebrity that came out were: Actress Joey King, Recording Artist Temara Melek, Actress Isabella Rae Thomas, Actor Zachary Alexander Rice, and Actress Jennessa Rose.
This year, Circus Vargas is bringing a touch of Broadway to the Big Top, introducing famed singing Ringmaster Kevin Venardos. “Venardos skillfully melds melody with movement, adds a bit of Broadway and a splash of razzle-dazzle for an unbelievably entertaining extravaganza!”
Another crowd favorite is John Weiss who with his wife and kids all welcome everyone like family to the circus. If you get there early enough you can meet him and his wife and kids and really feel like you are at home. Watch his balancing acts. Is there nothing he cannot balance?
The excitement does not stop, the double danger sphere cage is amazing, including the youngest one Maximus, who takes part of the action,

In the venue was a packed house full of fans, family and supporters of the Uneeqability movement.
This UneeqabilityLIVE! event benefited a great non-profit organization called We Stop Hate. http://www.WeStopHate.org. This organization is about ‘Boppers’ – teens around the world dedicated to ending bullying through raising self-esteem.
The host for the day was Joby Harte, who introduced a trick roller skating team courtesy of sponsor Vanilla Skates who danced on their skates and did acrobatics and this got the whole crowd ready for the performances.
The packed house came to see these amazing performers: Leon Thomas III, Rachel Crow, Jasmine Villegas, Midnight Red, Max Schneider, Corey Gray, Caleb and Brandon & Savannah.

On April 25, 2012, Variety’s Power of Youth and the United Nations Foundation held the “Letters of Hope” press event at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The United Nations Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign is linking Los Angeles youth with a humanitarian crisis half a world away through its Letters of Hope event .
Chris Helfrich, director of Nothing But Nets as well as, South Sudanese refugee Tut Gatyiel, Actress Serinda Swan, and Rapper Lupe Fiasco all spoke about the campaign and what we can all do to help. Also, in attendance were Brian Gott; editor of Variety; Rachel Smith, United Nations and Benny Aguayo; Marketing Manager for Pantages Theatre.
Young Hollywood came out to support as well, Actress Jennessa Rose, Actor Zach Callison, Actress Mandalynn Carlson, Actor Brandon Tyler Russell, Actress Hayley Ogas, Actress Merit Leighton, and Actress Marlowe Peyton wrote personal letters that will be delivered to refugee children in South Sudan along with life-saving bed nets to protect South Sudanese children from malaria. They all were there to support and create awareness to other youths in LA.
Cast members from Billy Elliot the Musical, Leah Hocking, Kylend Hetherington and Kathleen Hennessey, were there as well to shine a light on the plight of South Sudanese refugees and the threat they face of contracting malaria. They performed “The Letter,” a song about a mother protecting her child.
The disease is the leading killer of children under five in South Sudan. Since last June, more than 130,000 refugees—and counting—have entered South Sudan to escape fighting in the region. As Nothing But Nets works to send 100,000 life-saving bed nets to these families, LA kids are trying to send them hope.
The United Nations Foundation recently announced a new Global Entrepreneurs Council which is made up of 10 emerging entrepreneurs under the age of 40 who will work with the UN to address global issues in a 21st century mindset. They include the marketing director of Facebook, Randi Zuckerberg, the VP of Consumer Products at Google, Marissa Mayer, and the publisher of Variety Magazine, Brian Gott, amongst others involved in Nothing But Nets.
