. “Underemployed” is a one-hour drama that focuses on how the current economic crisis has affected a group of 20-something college grads. It will be debuting on Tuesday, October 16th at 10:00 for its 12-episode first season.
This MTV dramedy follows the five friends — Jared Kusnitz, Inbar Lavi, Michelle Ang, Sarah Habel and Diego Boneta — who, after one year out of college, struggle to tackle the real world. They attempt to stay optimistic through their major life changes, including taking on dead-end jobs, terrible bosses and romantic mistakes. Sound familiar? Executive producer Craig Wright recognizes the comparisons to HBO’s Girls, but notes that he himself is not the voice of this generation, especially since it’s based on his 23-year-old son. “I’m someone who’s interested in listening to the voices of this generation,” he said.

JARED KUSNITZ in Chicago filming new MTV show “Underemployed”
Jared Kunitz has spent the summer in the city of Chicago filming the new show for MTV called “UNDEREMPLOYEDwhich is slated for debut this fall” .
This new show is written and produced by Craig Wright, the award-winning playwright and screenwriter who got his start in St. Paul and has made a name for himself in Hollywood with his Emmy-nominated work on “Six Feet Under,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” “Parenthood,” “Lost,” and “Brothers and Sisters.
Based loosely on the travails of St. Paul Academy and New School grad Louis Wright (whose namesake is played by Jared Kusnitz), “Underemployed” enters a hard times zeitgeist in America that has inspired the Occupy movement, a simmering class war, a desperate voting populace, and a generational divide that at least one media outlet has labeled the baby boomers’ “War On Youth.” Doom and gloom all, but Wright and his writing staff seek to rise above the nit- and scab-picking and make the point that money doesn’t buy happiness.
The lead cast of five: Jared Kusnitz(Lou), Inbar Lavi (Raviva), Michelle Ang (Sofia),Diego Boneta(Miles) Sarah Habel (Daphne)

Paskal Rudnicke Casting will be heading up Chicago casting for the series. Emmy-nominated executive producer Craig Wright (“Brothers & Sisters”) has some ties to Chicago, particularly the acclaimed A Red Orchid Theatre, which presented the world premiere of Wright’s “Mistakes Were Made,” starring Oscar nominee and ensemble member Michael Shannon.
“Underemployed.” This new scripted show has Jared Kusnitz as one of the leads “Lou,” as well as Diego Boneta as “Miles,” Sarah Habel as “Daphne,” Michelle Ang as “Sofia” and Inbar Lavi as “Reviva.” The show focuses on a group of best friends struggling to cope with the reality of life after graduation.
You may have just seen Diego Boneta on Dancing with the Stars, he took a quick trip from Chicago to LA for his performance and you will catch him shortly in “Rock Of Ages”. Jared Kusnitz can also be seen as “Toby” on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”
Let’s hope we catch this show in the fall on MTV, looks like a great cast MTV has put together for this!
